New Options from Parked | TrafficZ adds new Templates | One Click Landing Pages from Domain Sponsor? | Sedo Great Domains Auction Glitches | Other Parking Service News | Recommended Services | Upcoming Domain Events
New options from Parked can mean better conversions for your domains. Parked.com continues to fly high as one of the best-paying parking services. In August they announced that you can now upload your own custom graphics to parking pages. Having a relevant picture on the landing page can increase click-throughs by 15%. Even if you don't upload a custom graphic, their optimization also makes it very easy to change the graphic and automatic keyword for your domain (which is not always chosen accurately by their system). Be sure to go into your Parked portfolio and click "edit" in the far right column for every domain. Check to see if the keyword is accurate. If not, change it to a better keyword. Be sure that it is really relevant to your site, or Parked can suspend your account.
TrafficZ adds new Templates TrafficZ has again released new landing page templates, including a template for .mobi domains. One new template, called "Poster" can be seen at nanotechnologyaerospace.com (default) and nanotechnologytelecommunications.com (brown). The dotMobi template can be seen at healthfacts.mobi. Other templates are labeled "sexy" and there are several new "sports" templates. TrafficZ already has some of the best and most creative templates. ![]() One Click Landing Pages from Domain Sponsor? Domain Sponsor announced in August that they will offer a one-click landing page template by the end of the year. Since Domain Sponsor is a Google-based service I'm not sure why they have not offered this all along. They had one-click landers widely available through early 2004, and have since offered them only on a limited basis. Domain Sponsor has also brought its payment system back in house. They had recently oursourced this to the Paychex service, but some domain owners apparently received their past two payments made out to the contact person rather than the company name. The move to bring this back in-house eliminates the ACH option that was convenient for U.S. domainers. The forums contained some reports of ISPs blocking domains ending in "information.com" which Domain Sponsor uses for many of its landing pages.
Sedo Great Domains Auction Glitches Sedo's recent focus has been on integrating GreatDomains.com into their system and getting high-profile domain auctions off the ground. Domainers on the forums are grumbling that their bids were not accepted, and that auctions have been cancelled after the high bidder won the domain. One disgruntled domainer in that situation complained "we get an email first from Great Domains saying the auction was invalid and the next day one from Sedo in Germany saying 'thanks for initiating the payment'." Sedo reported that their August auction "saw increased participation with even more bidders from more than 35 different countries around the globe." Sedo should get the kinks out soon, but you may want to avoid the Great Domains auctions until they are running more smoothly.
Sedo remains the best parking service for one-click landers. If you are getting traffic but few clicks, try your domains at Sedo. They announced that they will facilitate "the world’s first live auction for .co.uk domain names". The event will take place at the Domain Focus conference in London on September 6-7.
Other Parking Service News. NameDrive continues to push it's park and sell program. This is a good place for traffic domains that you also want to sell. Some domainers complain that gambling income is down at Fabulous. This Australian service has traditionally been recommended for gambling and adult domains. Whypark has added a blue-green landing page - which can be seen at MedicalEscrow.com. The top text and picture are not part of the template. but are easily added through their customization options. I find the green text to be almost unreadable. Maybe this is good - as it encourages people to click on the blue text(?) Even though Whypark generates Google sitemaps, I've yet to see these auto-generated article sites gain any page rank.

German domainers are planning a September get-together in Hamburg. The event, DomainvermarkterForum 2007 (or DF2007) will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott Hamburg Airport September 11-14.
